Priority Queue

These are the most common, current Cisco products that are used at organizations that have between 100 and 3000 hosts on the system. The links go directly to the datasheets, and bypass all the annoying marketing and obsolete product links that are found on the Cisco website.

Cisco voice server datasheets:

1. Cisco Solution Reference Network Design Guide for version 7, best overall voice reference.
2. Cisco Communications Manager version 7. Call control, required in any voice design.
3. Cisco Communications Manager Business Edition version 7. Call Control and Unity Connection on a single box.
4. Cisco Unity Unified Messaging for Exchange version 7. Full unified messaging.
5. Cisco Unity Connection version 7. Voicemail platform moving forward.
6. Cisco Presence Server version 7. Monitors status of phone and workstation users.
7. Cisco MeetingPlace Express version 2. Voice, web,  and video conferencing.
8. Cisco Contact Center Express version 7. Inbound call distribution and queuing.
9. Cisco Unified Mobile Advantage version 7. Manage cellphone voice applications.
10. Xmedius Fax Server. Boardless fax integrates with Cisco voice by T.38.
11. Syn-Apps Voice Applications. Handset and overhead paging, other usefull apps.
12. Zoom Call Recording. Records all calls from beginning of conversation.

Cisco voice client datasheets:

1. Cisco 7900 series phones. Handsets can be SIP or SCCP based.
2. Cisco 3900 series phones. Low priced phone.
3. Cisco Unified Personal Communicator version 7. Desktop application for presence, instant messaging, softphone, and hard phone control.
4. Cisco Unified Mobile Communicator. Cellphone application for status, instant messaging, and voicemail access.

Cisco Security:

1. Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance – Firewall, VPN and SSL VPN, voice proxy, with nice GUI.
2. Cisco Ironport Mail – Inbound and outbound email filter with content scanning.
3. Cisco Ironport Web – Web security and productivity filter.
4. Cisco Intrusion Prevention System – hardware modules or servers.
5. Cisco Intrusion Prevention System – software with automatic signature updates.
6. Cisco Access Control Server – AAA with radius and TACACS+, linux or vmware based.
7. Cisco Network Access Control – manager, server, works inband and out of band.
8. Cisco Security Agent version 6 – endpoint security for workstations and servers with integrated anti-virus
9. Cisco MARS version 6 – Log aggregation, reporting,  and alerting system.

Routers:

1. Cisco 3800 – larger routers used with multiple PRI’s and DS-3’s.
2. Cisco 2800 – router, voice gateway, and VPN. SIP, PRI, and analog voice termination.
3. Cisco 881 – small site router with remote voice gateway.
4. Cisco 881G – small site router with 3G connectivity.

Switches:

1. Cisco Catalyst 6500 – multilayer chassis switch for high speed server and fiber connectivity.
2. Cisco Catalyst 3750E - multilayer  high speed stackable switches for server and uplink connections.
3. Cisco Catalyst 3750 - multilayer  fast, stackable switches for small datacenter or closets.
4. Cisco Catalyst 4500 – multilayer switch for closets. Not for server connectivity due to gross oversubscription.
5. Cisco Catalyst 3560 – layer 3 switches for closets.
6. Cisco Catalyst 2960 – layer 2 switches for closets.

Wireless:

1. Wireless LAN Controller4400 – lightweight AP’s are the best way to go.
2. Wireless Control System- maps, reporting, and guest access.
3. Wireless Location Engine – works with WCS to locate all wireless users.
4. Cisco Aironet 1131G – integrated omni antenna, G and B only. Who needs A anymore?
5. Cisco Aironet 1141G/N – integrated omni antenna, G and N.
6. Cisco Aironet 1242G – external antanna, G and B.
7. Cisco Aironet 1252G – external antenna, G and N.
8. Cisco Aironet Antennas – if you only need omni, get the integrated AP’s!
9. Cisco Aironet Antennas reference guide – explains multipath and nodes.

Datacenter products:

1. Cisco WAAS Software 4.1 – WAN acceleration up to 20x faster.
2. Cisco Wide Area Virtualization Engine – remote site server replacement.
3. Cisco ACE 4710 Application Control Engine – server load balancer, SSL offloading, web site acceleration, with multiple session virtualization and a nice GUI.
4. Cisco MDS 9222i – Modular fibre channel switch.
5. Cisco MDS modules – modules for the 9222i and 9500 FC switches.
6. Nexus 7000 chassis switch. 10G Ethernet, FC and FCoE switch.
7. Nexus 5000 switch. 10G Ethernet, FC and FCoE switch.
8. Nexus 2000 fabric extender. Gigabit server aggregation to Nexus 5000.
